Research & Planning: Mock up of my Digipak

This is the mock up of my digipak. I have decided to do a six panel digipak as I feel I can manage it. I have tried to link my photos on my digipak to my music video by having pictures of locations from my music video on my digipak, this gives my products continuity which makes them realistic and professional. I have decided to make it black and white as this links to the rest of my promotional package and fits in with my targets audiences style.

For the main cover I used a photo of our star looking away so it links the the mysterious name for my digipak, the photo is very stereotypical for my chosen genre. I used a photo I took of writing in the sky as this is very hipster and vintage which from my research I have found out suits my target audience. I have used two fonts only so not to over crowd and make it look too busy.

I decided to have a shot of our artist from the music video, of her walking up the forest. This shows the theme of my promotional package and keeps up the continuity. I also used a photo of the sky as it looked effective shades of colour was a good background for my cd. I have a picture of our star laughing to show she just like a normal teenage and is someone they can relate to, I also have a slip where my print advert will be folded up and placed, so every digipak comes with a free print advert as this may encourage them even more to buy my product.

Above is the mock up for my print advert. I decided on this image as it makes her have a star appeal (Goodwins theory)  also she is the biggest thing on the poster. In the picture she isn't giving direct eye contact which gives the teenage vibe which is typical for our audience, with a central angle as this is a generic convention of my chosen genre, i found this out through my research. I have decided to make it black and white as this links to the rest of my promotional package and fits in with my targets audiences style.

After looking at other print advert, I have decided to add some of the feature which are typical of most print advert such as reviews, website and iTunes logo. I have used two fonts overall as to not clutter the front with too many fonts, this look far more professional and also bring continuity between my digipak and print advert.

My Music video of the week is Ed Sheerans "small bump" Ive chosen this music video on the concept and meaning behind it. The narrative based performance in this video is very professional and meaningful and touches me.

Now I have finished my Music video. I will now continue with my print works research and planning, then start creating my print work.

My Music video of the week is Justin Beibers "love yourself". This music video interests me and its all stylised dance which is a nice change to a normal narrative based music video. This music video means more than to the eye, I like how unique it is.

Today as a group we decided to spend the whole lesson editing which was good as it let us put all the improvements into my music video. Near the end of this lesson we got feedback from the other group in the class about what they thought that we needed to change or improve in the music video.

This feedback was helpful as it made up be more brutal and improve it as much as we can to get the professional element. The most useful advice was them spotting out where the lip syncing was off, some times a fresh pair of eyes can spot something new.

Today in class my group focused on improving our music video from our target audience feedback, however we lost a few clips and had to find them again on camera so it took longer than we expected, Therefore tomorrow lunch we are going to meet up to hopefully finish it.

Tomorrow morning me and Alice have arranged to meet up for a photo shoots for my print products. For this our star will be wearing typical indie girl clothes, so a wooly jumper which suits our genre and the same blouse she wore in her music video as this keep continuity within my products which is effective.

For location I'm planning on using a white wall as a back drop so It contrasts well with the artist, but I will also shot some outdoor in the forest we filmed again for continuity in products which is professional and it is also stereotypical for our genre as there always symbolised by nature.
The weather looks dry so I might be able to shoot the outdoors tomorrow, although its going to be cloudy so might not get the natural light I need.

Time Management

Today in media we finished our rough cut of our music video as we planned, we have also shown it to our target audience and got feedback. This went well as it helped us improve it, although we do have certain things and clips to change therefore I need to make time next week to complete these.

Overall I thought this was a productive lesson as we gained new ideas and improvement to make to our video therefore making it more professional and realistic.

After completing our changes for improvement I will then starting planning a Photoshoot to start on with my Digipak, as I am behind target and running out of time fast.

This morning in my free I decided to do some editing for our music video. This is because I want to finish the rough cut to get audience feedback on.
By the end of this editing session I had filmed most of the gaps and synced and performance clips, because of this I think it is ready to show people and get audience feedback, also we are running out of time for the finish production.

This morning I went into the media room and spent two sessions editing the music Video. Today we have achieved a lot in terms of adding all our clips onto the program, as well as lip syncing the clips effectively.

This is a picture of a performance clip that I am currently trying to match up the music to her movement. This was not too much trouble as the clips we took the performance was good and lip syncing was clear and effective.

This is a shot of the first two minuets of the music video which is all in place and completed. This is a good sign as it means we only have to work on the other half of the video, which hopefully wont take to long to complete.

This shot is the last tiny bit of our music video, as you can see I've added the occasional filler clips as there quick and easy to add.
Tomorrow me and Alice are meeting up to have a talk about how its effecting our target audience so far, so we can finish our rough cut.

Video of the week

My video of the week is by a two different artist both in the indie genre called Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift with their song 'everything has changed'. This music video is very sweet and is mainly narrative shots, I personally love the story behind this picture and its very clear with the visuals . This video cuts at the right pace to the song and has some synthesia as well. 

Time Management

Today we finished all of the filming for the music video. This was archived because the group stuck to the plan and met up in the morning and filmed our indoor performance skills, collecting the equipment on the way.

In the actually media lesson we drove up to the forest and finished the filming there as well.

Overall this has been a very successful day, which now because of it we can add one the footage to our music video we have edited so far. As a group we aim to have edited a rough cut by Friday, I think this is a realistic goal as next week everyone in the group go and edit in the media room if they have free time.

Today Alice and I planned to start going through all the clips and start to put them together and start editing. 

I have used the editing software 'Adobe premiere pro' as its very high tech and has all the effects and skills I need to make my music video successful.

Ideas for Production of my Digipak

To create a coherence within my Digipak I am going to go along with the theme of the artists name, "IVY &GOLD"

The concept I am going to use all links to the word "thoughtful"

Definion:  absorbed in or involving thought 

This is because all the songs in the album are all reflecting and thinking through situations she in and has been in, therefore I will portray the songs are very thoughtful by the expressions and camera work used to create the image of my star. For example a high angle shot to our star looking down on the side, creating the thoughtful inner pained self. This is a stereotypical image for a star in our genre to be portrayed as the target audience are at a very dramatic thoughtful age and will be able to relate to the image of our star.

As I am aiming it will the artists name, the colour scheme will be gold and black, gold because of the "IVY & GOLD" so it links in  and creates a nice coherence and house style for my digipak. Also I will use black again leading to the image of them being thoughtful and sad therefore the colour black is describing there mood and the emptiness there feeling.

The Imagery I will include would be ivy, of course to go in with the artists name "IVY &GOLD", also I will include a gold silhouette of a our artist, to represent her stardom (Stars and stardom theory).

Filming process

Our group plan to film again on thursdayas we still have to film more clips as we need to film some more in the forest. However looking at the forecast its not going to be the correct weather for filming in the forest and it may rain and won't be correct lighting.

Therefore we will still film, but we will start filming our indoor performance part of our video therefore we will need to get ready:

• Outfit
• Camera
• Projecter for effective lighting

• Technology to play the song

Time Management

Today we started our editing which has gone to plan and the clips we have got is very good quality. Although ew have come across a few gaps therefore we will need to film a little bit more so we have not completely finished our filming. me and alice will do this in thursdays lessons so that we have the equipment needed.

However I have now started on my research and analysis for the print work.I am starting this now to catch up with the time plan which everyone is behind on including myself. 

We are planning that our music video will be finished in about 2 weeks.

We have now finished our filming that we have planed. We know must start the editing progress will is the most important part.

Also looking back at the clips we took yesterday we decided that the narrative parts didn't fit and looked unrealistic so we have chosen to stick to have an performance based music video.

 We did our outdoor performance filming today. They show a mix of couple shots, dressed in clothes suitable for the autumn  weather, making it realistic.

We have know finished our indoor filming.
We used the projector to project images on to my face whilst I'm singing as its expresses and gives a special effect. This bit included me being expressionistic and lip-syncing showing that I mean what I am singing as if I am the artist who wrote it. As indie artist always write their songs through own experience therefore are very passionate about  there song therefore its important I portray that!
Everything went to plan and we got a lot of takes.
As you can see we have had big success with our indoor filming.

We also filmed some Narrative filming to see if we could add a clearer story behind our music video these are some screen shots of that.

Me and Alice have finally found the time, props and location to film our indoor scenes. we have practised our lip sinking, so tomorrow we will start filming that. 

What we will need to do to prepare:

• Get the projector ready as we have decided to use it to add special effects
• Clear location
• Get the camera
• find a tripod
• Bring apple mac to play song will 

After this we will be close to of finished our filming and ready to edit.

My video of the week is by the british artist 'Ed Sheeran' called 'Drunk'. I have chosen this video as the video really shows what his 'Star" appeal is (Star and stardom theory) he's just an ordinary guy with ordinary problem this would appeal to his audience as they can relate to him.

We had a lesson where it was luring with rain therefore we could not go out and film. But instead we uploaded all the clips we have already done and started sorting them out to see what we have left to do and what we've got is any good. 

Although we did do some good as we practised lip syncing in this lesson inside so we could make sure that it was correct for when we film. 

As for if we will be finished by next week, I think it will be difficult as we are busy outside lessons, however I think we will be able to meet our deadline so we can start editing.

Yesterday we finally had the  weather to start filming more of our music video, we didn't film in the best conditions as it was raining but it was the best we could do looking at the long forecast.

We filmed a lot of fillers today, which will be handy when it comes to editing. However we now need to start thinking about filming the  main scenes as they are a big part of the music video.

A problem we have tackled when filming yesterday was how to play the song so the performer could hear it to lip sync to as the weather was very load which made it different for the performer to hear the song when we held the phone which was playing the song near her but out of site. We fixed this problem by finding a better media technology to play the song out with which was louder.

My first video of the week is by the artist 'Katy Perry' called 'roar'. This song has two different music videos as she released this one first and the other later. I really rather this version as I think its clever and unique. This music video really attracts its target audience well and one there target audiences hobbies are texting so they've involved that in this music video.

Time Management

This week didn't go exactly to plan in terms of goals I set myself to do this week due to problems with weather, we were planning to film on the weekend and as you can see the weather was to poor to get the correct shots. However it has still been a productive week as we have focused on planing our music video out more. 

So my group could get an idea of our skills and what shots looked right, we went outside and filmed some test shots in the week when the weather got better. This was beneficial for our group to do this and planing is important.

Next week we're going to be focusing on performance footage as it is a key part of our video as it is heavy in performance. Locations for these performance bits have already been picked out which makes it easier to film on the day.

These shots are to test different locations and shot types of scenery as this is a big part of the music video, as it is a big element of our chosen genre indie.

This shot is of our artist walking tin the field. This shot is effective for our genre, as our chosen genre stereotypical has a lot of nature background as our target audience is very down to each and connote nature in their personalities. Our performers outfit suits the forest so we are going to use this scene for shooting our music video:

 

This is are second location, Which is meant to represent a studio. This location with the lighting behind it is very effective and makes it look professional. As our genre's music videos are mainly performance based this shot is very stereotypical and suitable:

After research into other music videos in our chosen genre they are mostly performance based and full of nature as nature connotes our target audience, pure and beautiful. So we only have two locations.

Today the group met up to film our chosen scenes as we all planned. We haven't been very organised but our process so far has gone to plan with few problems. However we didn't get to film all of the indoor scenes, so we must film them again.

This week my task was to finish off blog posts, which I have now completed. Because of this my group can now start filming our music video. As a group we all sat down together and worked out which days we were all free, from this we have decided to meet up on the 5th of November which is a thursday. If this goes according to plan then we shall be filming the outdoors part of our music video.

 So far this week I have managed to keep up to date with all the set tasks. Because of this, this week I have completed: Storyboarding, costumes, props, make up, performers, casting, locations, risk assessment, choreography, audience theory and narrative theory. 

At the moment, the class as a whole is a week behind schedule, by next lesson I hope to have finished all of the planning for the music video and actually start filming.

Out of our maybe cast members, we chose that I would be the only person seen in our music video, as  its going to be mostly performanced ased and it stereotypical for our music genre to only star one person in the music video with direct address telling the story with the lyrics.

Final location

This is our final location. We were going to go film it at the beach but due to the weather problem we chose to film in a local first instead. This still gave off the right mood and feel for our song.
